They told me that my first memory is an impossible one. There are no planets with a free breathable atmosphere. They told me that I cannot remember, let alone know, how the smell of an open fire is. They told me that it is an aberration to eat something that just was alive and it has been laid on a fire to cook. And yet, I was there... and there were others with me, each one different. There was no clone waiting for us. That concept was far away from our simple minds. Only one run, one single opportunity to do something meaningful. We didn't take it.
