Countessa D'Marko seeks a role in life. After an unhappy childhood she left her past behind, working as a burser on a tramp freighter, learning the care and feeding of a starship and her crew. Her competence aboard ship was rapidly rewarded with promotion, until the captain eventually paid for the surgery required for her to become a pod-pilot. She still retains close ties with that Captain and crew, to the degree that she has since paid for his pod fitting and a selection of ships and the relevant training to use them.
Once her fitting was complete, Countessa decided to focus on asteroid mining to help recoup the costs associated with setting up as a pod-pilot. During the inevitable light combat that comes along with mining, she found that she had a talent. As her career has progressed her skills have developed until she now considers herself a 'competant' combat pilot, and in her hangers can be found an arsenal of advanced fighter vessels
