Khalizza parents were simple poor farmers, unable to afford even the cheapest cloan. Forced to flee their farm when war errupted, they made the mistake of entering Egghelend where they were ambushed by merciless pirates. Perhaps Khalizza's escape pod was too small to appear on the pirates scanners, or perhaps they just couldnt be bothered, but she survived: a peniless orphan at just 3 years old.
She was taken in by her only remaining relative; an uncle who roamed the galaxy as a freelance moon surveyor. It was a lonely existance: to be seen in low security space surveying moons was to invite attack, so they went in quietly and cloaked whenever possible. Khalizza learned to love the lonlieness of space and the beauty of the stars.
As soon as she was old enough her uncle sent her to the university in Bouyne
