Maliere was born as a slave. She grew up in a slave-colony with all what that means. By the age of 10, a group of Minmatar freedom fighters intervened the slave transport she and her parents were on. The freetaking attempt ended in disaster as the Bestower got hit by gun-fire from one of the Minmatar ships, killing most of the slaves onboard. Both Malieres parents were among the casualties. The Bestower made it to safety though heavily damaged. But the ship damage was nothing compared to Maliere's loss. Her entire life swept away in a 2-minute dog-fight.
