Mary looked down at her soft delicate skin, her eyes drawn to the gleaming interface sockets erupting from her puckered flesh. She rubbed her fingertips together, trying to believe that the slide of skin over skin is natural, to remember when this sensation was the limits of her reality. She glanced up, in front of her - at the very the centre of the hangar the POD, her connection and interface. Glancing around she took note of the array of diverse ships - form linked with function.
These are my limbs, she thought, battle hardened and scarred composites, not this fragile fleshy existence, not this, not this meat. Only out of the pod to be opened by the surgeon for anther implant, she twisted her neck, feeling stiffness from the swelling as the flesh healed.
