Once a slave, Renarr managed to earn his freedom while working his fingers to the bone. His work in the spacestations building ships for those more fortunate than he provided him a solid backbone in the world of industry. Now in the unvierse on his own terms, and with his small ships, Renarr toils the universe as he once did the spaceports. He searches the world over for the most elusive of minerals in hopes of becoming the glory hound miner he always dreamed of.

With all that Renarr has learned of in this universe, he has also learned that some things are perpetually unforgiving. On three seperate occasions he has lost haulers while shipping rare ores for clients. Each time a result of overzealous pirates who wanted nothing of his cargo, but instead just to watch the ship explode.

It is from these lessons that Renarr has begun to focus his training so as to elude both the law and those beyond the law. His operations send him into dangerous reaches of space.
