Viensa was born to a successful merchant family. Some negative experiences growing up lead her to the conclusion that her family was decadent. Seeking discipline she left the family and joined the military. While she felt the military was indeed disciplined it seemed to primarily serve the corrupt capitalists like her family. By association she also developed a dim view of the Amarr Empire. This led to her becoming associated with an Intaki pilot and engaging in anti-Caldari/anti-Amarr operations for a while.
Perhaps she is too judgmental at times but the corruption in the Gallente Federation and even the fanatical violence of the Minmatar became difficult for her to reconcile. At this time she has allied herself with the Khanid. She may still have reservations about slavery, but she views the Khanid as warriors worth fighting alongside.
