Coming from a long line of government bureaucrats, Norwest decided he needed to buck the family trend. After discovering he qualified to be a capsuleer, he attended the State War Academy, with the intention of making his name known throughout the universe (or failing that, making a decent living).

Norwest's cousin was aboard the Malkalen Ishukone Watch station when the despicable 'Admiral Alexander Noir' rammed his Nyx into it.. She died in the explosion, and Norwest has severed all ties with the Federation, even going so far as to serve in the State milita for a time.

After long weeks and months of battling for the state in the cluster's marketplaces, Norwest has decided to take a more... mercenary outlook on life.
