allow me to regale you with a story i like to tell about a quaint little restaurant. you may have heard the name from legends and myth
ihop
so i went to ihop and impress upon the serving wench, my need for one of their giant omelette and toast
now this is early sunday morning maybe 10 or 11 so the early church crowd has already turned this tiny hovel into a battleground not seen for a century
but NEVER daunted my wife and i persevered
we were seated, a nice booth with an adequate light and a quaint shrubbery out the window to feast my eyes upon
This could not curtail my hunger by itself. no i say you, it cannot
so after a few minutes the waitress shambled up looking like a used up hooker who just got done doing a line off the managers asshole
she brought us some refreshing beverages, they were refreshing. BUT had we known how we needed to make these drinks last for our safari through the desert of ihop i drank from my cup deeply
After an eternity of waiting my omelet at last arrived. twas good it was but lacking in the side of toast.
almost three quarters of an hour we waited and struggled for that omelet
but it did arrive
Once it was done and my throat was so thoroughly parched from lack of an adequate water supply the shambling horror arrived with a plate.
what could be on this plate i wondered could it be the bill i was dreading would arrive
it was the toast i had ordered with the omelet neigh on an hour ago
lacking warmth to soothe my dry palette
was plain bread
freshly removed from packaging and place upon yon plate with care sliced cleanly in two and presented with honest intent. upon my plate was placed the most perpetually cold and palid of the most poorly looking bread
lacking in butter and jam
without so much as a singe.
