Maelcom was born somewhere in Imperial space, being smuggled back to Matar shortly thereafter aboard a deep space transport. He left foster care at the age of seventeen, attending the Pator Tech School to study military theory, political science, and undergo Republic Fleet combat operation training.

Mael's demeanor and appearance masks his education. He comes across rather irreverent for a Brutor, though always in a light mood, even in combat.

Maelcom contracts as a frigate pilot in the Tribal Liberation Force between stints of trading and smuggling.
