Shortly after the above mentioned Mr Starr seniors death , the young Dredd was taken in by a kindly Amarrian Slave master and industrialist by the name of Barzini Telamon, he grew up grateful in the knowledge that physical discipline and the occasional beating were the only way to master his owners chosen profeesion for him as expert miner and explorer.
Dredd understands that Pappy starr was a very naughty man trying to run away from his keepers like that, and is very grateful he was spared a fiery death and given the oppertunity to work for for free!
Paying back slowly the debts owed by his father for all the damage he caused when he stole that
Prophecy and tried to escape to the heathen rebels.
Dredd Starr has worked hard these years making amends for his father's ungrateful behaviour and is now permitted to sleep indoors during the winter,
