By blood, however, she is Vherokior—her parents carrying with them the traditions of travelers, spirit-talkers, and keepers of memories older than any written record.
Raised as Sebiestor but never wholly confined by Sebiestor ways, Effei learned early to move between worlds. She could lose herself in the workings of an engine just as readily as she could sit in silence beside a family shrine, listening for meaning in dreams, omens, and the voices of those who came before. To some, this made her divided. To Effei, it was simply the truth of who she was: a woman shaped by two tribes, belonging fully to neither and faithfully to both.
For decades she worked as a mechanic, systems technician, and troubleshooter, earning a reputation for coaxing life from machines others had condemned.
