Despite everything, here I was back in Proteus Space and back in the job market. Nothing much had changed...It still looked a cool place to be, if you had money, and I didn't! Freelancing for Proteus beat starving. In fact, if you pulled a good job, it payed well - very well. So far I'd been lucky. Everyone seemed to have forgotten my previous misdemeanour. Hey, it hadn't been my fault. Just a slight miscalculation that left me in a capsule and my ship in pieces...along with my reputation, my relationship, and my bank account! But this time it was going to be different! It hadn't been easy but I got my hands on a great new ship...and a signed proteus contract. Now all I needed was a nice little high earning job and it would be business as usual. The downside was the proteus red tape! Before anything could be done both me and my ship had to be checked out for something called mission suitability! Hell, they even gave me a book of rules written by the boss man himself.
