Originally chosen for capsuleer ascendency in YC 98 by the Spacelane Patrol Recruiment Program, this person refused the process as his spiritual beliefs saw becoming an empyrean as little more than a glorified death.
He paid a professional toll for this refusal and was repeatedly denied promotion within SP despite his stellar service record, eventually resulting in his resignation and transferral to State War Academy as a pilot instructor in the system of Urhinichi. During this assignment he fell in love with a colleague, eventually marrying her and starting a small family in the system. In YC 116 he was promoted to Senior Recruitment Supervisor of SWA within Urhinichi in recognition of his capabilities. Life seemed good.
Then the Triglavians appeared and launched their merciless attack upon New Eden. When the Collective invaded Urhinichi the State ordered an immediate evacuation of "high-value personnel" from the system, which included him. Tragically as the invasion went on and the State found its resources stretched thin the later stages of personnel extraction could not afford the same level of military backup the initial evacuations enjoyed, resulting in the loss of many evacuees to attacks from both the Triglavians and opportunistic pirates. His family was among those lost in the carnage.
Struck with grief over "having lost his reasons to life", he contacted an old friend from his SPRP days who had become a capsuleer back in those brighter days to help him fulfil his "final purpose": at long last become an empyrean.
His old self is now dead, replaced by "Operator Aleph" - a name taken from his callsign during an old anti-Guristas sting - who has vowed the bring ruin and destruction upon the Triglavians and those who chose to aid them.
