I found myself lost in space, watching a strange planet cross my window as my capsule spun. Slowly, my memory returned. There was a war. My name - Astrapanus Elitra Mandara. I smiled. My name meant "Guardian of the Heavens." Some debris crossed my window, and my smile faded. That had been my ship.
With a few keystrokes, I confirmed my suspicions. I was in an unknown solar system. I had been flung across the galaxy when my ship was blasted into the wormhole. The wormhole was gone, and indeed my sensors hadn't yet picked up any planets or stations. Just a sun.
With a sigh, I set about triangulating any structure I could find. Time seemed to crawl.
Wait! There!
I found a single solitary stargate about 100 clicks away. I automated the approach, then closed my eyes. I needed rest. I was exhausted, and needed to heal.
Being alone didn't bother me. My current body was young, but my conciousness was thousands of years old. I'd upgraded my memory, so that I could entertain myself with "movies" of my long life. I picked a favorite memory from my long ago childhood, mentally clicked "play," and settled into my rest.
