The Elephant's foot is located in reactor number four of the Chernobyl power plant. It is highly radioactive and made up of concrete, melted metal, and nuclear fuel. The Elephant's Foot is a black ceramic made of silicon dioxide, uranium, calcium, iron, zirconium, aluminum, magnesium, and potassium. It is dense and unyielding, but has a consistency similar to sand. It was created in 1986 after the infamous incident and still emmits radiation to this day. After the incident a mere 30 seconds of exposure to it's radiation waves would become fatal, today it's still fatal after 300 seconds. The only picture taken of the elephants foot had to be taken using a mirror and a camera drone, which soon melted afterwards. There is hope for the radiation levels in Chernobyl though, for in the past years the levels have gone down far faster than predicted. Why? Because of a black mold. It has never been found anywhere else in the world, it has adapted to the harsh environment, and it feeds off of the radation. The species is known for surviving in harsh conditions, but to eat radiation is unheard of.
