According to scuttlebutt, Kzanol Ptavv spent a brief period of time in involuntary servitude on an Amarri mining barge. He serendipitously stumbled into freedom by surviving the sudden depressurization of the barge, an accident resulting from Amarri pest-control negligence and which sent the rest of the crew on a quick trip to their medical clones. Ptavv happened to be performing a routine harvester service and remainined in his EVA until the ship AI was able to bypass the rat-chewed life-support subsystem and reestablish atmosphere. The disaster occurred outside of Amarri space, leaving Ptavv's former employer with no enforceable claim on Ptavv's person, and further allowing Ptavv to claim salvage rights.\xa0Several pilots insist they've heard multiple variations of this story, but all versions involve an Amarri mining barge and a fatal accident leaving Ptavv as the sole survivor. When asked for comment, Ptavv said only, "I guess they should have prayed more."

Ptavv is currently a humble shopkeeper and collector in Eystur, specializing in neural enhancements and program chips for hyperintelligent rats. He tends to overindulge in intoxicants, frequently harrassing his customers by preaching or ranting about his pet conspiracy theory - that the Minmatar Republic is secretly run by a cabal of Caldari oligarchs and citing as evidence "tax slavery", the oppressive fees the Republic stations charge the Minmatar people for trade and industry. Although he argues that Amarr is a backwater has-been, he does not seem to even consider the possibility of Ammatar or Gallente control of the hypothetical shadow government, or that it's simply Minmatar greed and corruption, and not a shadow government at all.
