Amarazaki Toshizue, born Amarazaki Zahid, came from a noble house of Khanid affiliated with the Imperial Navy. During the Khanid rebellion her family sided with Garkeh Khanid, the then Khanid heir, and subsequently relocated to Khanid space with his ascension to sovereignty. Growing up, Amarazaki would often hear the stories of the Amarr Empire and the wealth and power that her family had commanded. So too did she learn of the ways of their religion.

The youngest daughter of seven children, Amarazaki was trained in the art of combat and warfare from an early age. She built a reputation as a talented tactician and a fierce fighter both in space and in hand to hand combat. Unlike her siblings and much of her family however she also displayed a strong business acumen and a propensity for the sciences that could be said to eclipse her strength in battle. This often put her at odds with her family who were conservative and still retained much of the Amarrian religious observances though they like many of the Khanid warrior elite have since adopted cybernetic implants as a valid means for enhancing their prowess. Her relations tolerated her ecentricities in the hopes of marrying her into a favourable political alliance. This would change irrevocably on her twentieth birthday.

Her elder brother Deimos, the only member of the family who accepted her for who she is, was formally betrothed to a princess of the imperial household. He urged her to leave and to find her own path. Thus, on the night of the wedding banquet whilst all of her family were celebrating, she stole away on a frigate and made her way into Amarr space. There she was picked up by a navy patrol on suspicion of being a pirate. The commander in charge, Kazuo Toshizue, took her under his wing after hearing her story. She would eventually adopt his name and enlist with the Amarr Imperial Academy both as a way to remain true to her roots as well as to blend into the fabric of Amarr society. To this day her birth family believe she is either dead or lost in space, a lie she together with Kazuo have perpetuated in an effort to mask her true identity.
