On May 28, 2016, a three-year-old boy climbed into a gorilla enclosure at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden who was without hesitation; sheltered and protected by Harambe, a 17-year-old Western lowland gorilla. Fearing for the boy's life, a zoo worker shot and killed Harambe. The incident was recorded on video and received broad planetary coverage and commentary, including controversy over the choice to kill Harambe. A number of primatologists and conservationists wrote later about zoo animals and the need for better standards of care.

Over 21,000 years later, Caldari scientists within the State War Academy discovered an early extract of Harambe's consciousness that was used for testing the initial capsuleer program. With the approval from high command; the Caldari restored him with the goal to give him another chance at the life that was so senselessly stolen from him tens of thousands of years earlier.

Throughout years of development, Harambe was able to assimilate to his new environment alongside other human subjects, despite being of primative origin he was able to steadily learn common language and human functions. Each month, Harambe grew in knowledge, skills and expertise eventually impressing the Caldari enough to give him the full ability to roam free, something which his brothers and sisters wished they were able to do tens of thousands of years ago. However, instead of exploring the dense jungles and deserts of southern Africa on his home planet he would be destined to travel amongst the stars of the universe.
