Orphaned before the age of 5, raised in Eystur by distant relatives until the age of 16. Ran away from home to join the Matari Clandestine Fellowship (MCF). Enrolled by the MCF into the Republic University as a covert operative in training, with the expectation of being employed as a clandestine MCF agent after graduation. Majored in communications while enrolled and subsequently graduated. Currently the chief of the Special Information Service's (SIS) 1st Desk (Operations).

"Bichamp" is not her family name, but was taken from a Gallente operative who was apprehended while attempting to infiltrate the MCF. Valbera's family name is undisclosed, and it is unclear whether or not "Valbera" is her real given name (it is not likely to be the case). "Valbera Bichamp" is, however, the name she used since the early days of her association with the MCF (it is not clear whether or not she is still an active MCF operative).

Even as a child Valbera's relatives (with whom she did not share a clan name) described her as stubborn, passionate, and independent. She refused the Matar tattooing rite of passage, having at that time already anticipated her work with the MCF (a facial tattoo would be a dead giveaway as to an operative's origins, which also explains why the MCF recruits operative trainees at increasingly young ages), much to her extended family's chagrin. It was perhaps for the best that Valbera left her relatives for the MCF shortly thereafter, minimizing the social stigma that is still strong within Matar society against non-tattooed individuals and their relatives.

Given Valbera's occupation, very little is known about her personal/private life prior to joining the MCF. Her clan affiliation is undisclosed, as is her location of birth. Very little is known about her private life even now; while rumors abound that she is in a relationship with her fellow SIS agent Jaria Tarashi, but even that might be intentional misdirection.
