To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand wormhole playstyle. The wormhole mechanics themselves are extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics as well as discrete mathematics most of the interactions will go over a typical player's head. There's also Hilmar's vision, which is deftly woven into this part of the game- his personal philosophy draws heavily from the old days of Freelancer, for instance. Wormholers understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these mechanics, to realize that they're not just engaging- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike wormholes truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the subtlety in Rooks and Kings' essential film "Clarion Call 3" which itself is a cryptic reference to Sun Tzu's founding work, The Art of War. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Lord Maldoror's genius machinations unfold themselves on their computer screens.
