Joining the Military at age 18, Gutts Downgard lived a very controlled life under the eyes of his Sargeants. One day, a corporation known only as the GNA took note of his track record and offered him a chance of a lifetime. The chance to join the GNA Explorers Wing. This wing was tasked with exploring the depths of the unknown, also known as, the endless void that is space.

Serving under the wing of W/C. Keling, his squad was ambushed by pirates of the SED faction. All his fellow pilotiers, dead. Even his W/C fell victim to the attack. Being the only one to have survived, he attempted to return to GNA Main Base. Unfortunately, the GNA had been trapped in a blockade by the SED and were fighting for their lives. Gutts knew that any attempt to return safely or help the defence would be futile, just resulting in him sharing the same fate as his comrades.

He retreated and went into cyrosleep.

To this day, Gutts still tries to find members of GNA to bring him back home.
