The blood ritual was nearly complete. Each initiate in turn approached the evilly stained altar, sipped from the rune-inscribed silver chalice, and swore allegiance to the Aenebra death cult and martyrdom.
High Priest Oahspe clutched his trademark bullwhip but knew he would not need it. These young sons of Intaki's wealthiest families were well-indoctrinated, and Aenebra priests had administered a cocktail of potent narcotics to ensure compliance.
The new recruits were aware of Aenebra's partnership with the Serpentis, but only to Aenebra archpriests and Serpentis henchman Aacryx Vultron had the unholy alliance's true purpose been revealed.
Nothing less than a Serpentis take-over of the Intaki system was the objective. Corrupting the Intaki populace through the spread of drug addiction was the means!
