THINGS I'VE LEARNED BY GETTING BLOWN UP:
1) Players aggro you because they want you to shoot at them...then they blow you up.
2) If you've got a better ship and drive them off, they will come back with an awesome ship and blow you up.
3) If you've got an awesome PVE ship they will take their mediocre PVP ship and blow you up.
4) Carrying valuable things makes people jealous and they blow you up.
5) Do everything right and they may still, just for the heck of it, blow you up.

OBSERVATIONS ON TRADING:
People will give me money to save them time...or maybe they're just lazy:
- They will sell low or buy high now rather than wait a few hours and get a better price by listing it on the market.
- They will sell low or buy high here rather than travel a jump or three to get a better deal.
