Most major religions attempt to incorporate as many members as possible. Most atheists don't like this because religious people are hallucinating when conceptualizing about anthropomorphized divine entities. It is not out of some desire to feel self-righteous, it is out of a desire to rid humanity of these hallucinations. I could respect religious people more if they at least showed some respect on a human level instead of trying to force misplaced assumptions upon people. I'm not saying you are one of them, but just giving you the reason Atheists are so prudent in their arguments.
