Ever patient, ever kind, you watched as we rebelled,
We cast aside your warm embrace for a cold and airless hell.

Beauteous, we thought it, but with danger was it fraught,
Our souls it hardened ever more, ’til most were left with naught.

Our greed fully consumed us as slowly, one by one,
We viciously laid claim to every moon and every sun.

Now, o Mother, you can only watch as we return
In vessels clad in gold and with a greed which still doth burn.
