"A Gulag prisoner's day begins at 5 o'clock in the morning, when prisoners are awakened by the alert signal, hitting a rail with a hammer. After awakening, they clothed in the clothes they had received from the camp administration - not allowed for civilian clothes - and headed for the dining room. The inmates carried real physical battles to access even the poor boil where, in the happiest case, there was a frozen potato or a trace of fish. They swing the omenetta, they are standing on their feet for a blotch of pungent pomp that is right to them (...)
