Born into a turbulent Ni-Kunni noble family, Zouyu was raised in both opulence and death, bearing witness to her elevated lifestyle and the regular executions and torture of slaves. Her family had a long history of naval service but her father and mother were engrossed in their wealth and never chose to serve greater Amarr. Zouyu left her home abruptly, having suffered a horrendous injury to her eye. Lacking financial resources, she was forced to do without a replacement. Zouyu used her noble name to join the Royal Amarr Institute. She proved to be an adept scholar and a merciless fighter and as a result she was accelerated into the Amarrian pod pilot program. Upon graduation she changed her surname to Sykee shedding her noble background and to the surprise of all, promptly left Amarr space. Interestingly Zouyu refused to allow her eye to be replaced, or her scar to be healed, opting instead to have a tattoo drawn over it.
