Ozamis started his mining career at Couster II's Federation Navy Academy School. As with all cadets, part of his curriculum required military training, and it changed his belief and perspective of the Federation.
A requirement for his graduation was to join a Federation Navy fleet staging a hostage rescue operation. Used as bait, Ozamis was given the requested ransom, but his crew later discovered it contained Caldari components and modules. Before he could act, it was too late; the fleet destroyed his ship along with the nearby hostages and remaining pirates.
To his surprise, Ozamis awoke in an alternate jump clone he left in a nearby system rather than his clone at the Academy. Clearly understanding the fleet's intent with the Academy orchistrating his permanent death, he fled to Caldari space and vowed to help fight the tyranny of the Federation.
"I know they thought I sold my soul, but they'd never tell me to my face. I just had to get in close to blow their ship away!"
