Born into a Deteis family of miners, SandKid's actual name is not known - the nickname was acquired from finding a large (and at the time lucrative) sand-pit in the depths of an asteroid. Being in space, sand was certainly cheaper to find than transport from the surface of temperate planets and so the youth quickly propelled his family to prominence. He was 14 when the discovery took place and by his 18th birthday, SandKid officially took over the business. At 21 he had expanded it into a Corporation and achieved his authorization to become a Capsuleer, founding SAND Corp soon after.

Eventually SandKid departed SAND Corp, leaving it to a close friend, and founded Gateway Mining Division. He recently left this venture behind to answer the call to serve his nation and has joined the State Protectorate.
