Troubled techie from a Siebestor family that stressed combat prowess, Mrissa left home at an early age, scored high on technical aptitude tests, and managed to earn a scholarship to Pator Tech, where she proceeded to drive her teachers crazy with odd tinkering, gerry rigging, and outright brute force design with neural cybernetics.

Her goal, get the benefits of the Jove Pod without the nasty goo and the freedom of movement within ship.

Though successful, her modifications to the various ships she owns don't give her quite as good reflexes as traditional 'pod' pilots, but she feels the tradeoffs, and quality of her life, and ability to have a ship's mascott on bridge, is worth it.

Spooky became part of Mrissa's permanent crew and part of her identity when he, a stowaway 20 pound rat, took care of a potentially dangerous electronics eating pest. Mrissa adopted the curmugeony rat and made him her masc.
