Yes, those small town settlers looked at my Mum funny, but she knew something they didn't and that I didn't learn about until much later. My father was investing in her and through her in me. He was part of an extended family and had never fit in. His uncles and cousins were miners and industrialists while he prefered roaming and trading.

He funneled ISK to my Mum for over 20 years, and she secreted it away in an ingenious array of hiding places. The last time I saw him he told me to get my ass educated, gave me the keys to some caches of ISK and gear, gave me a letter of introduction to the Denokomis family and took my Mum away from that backwater she'd been in those many years.

I saw Mum a couple times a year after that. She'd let me know where she and Dad were going to be and I'd find a way to get a break from my apprenticeships so I could catch up with Mum. The last I heard they were sightseeing in Genesis.
