Eclipses was born during an Eclipse on one of the Minmatar home worlds. Ironically for his chosen line, he was birthed with distinctively light skin. Considering this to be a sign that his son was to be special, Eclipses' father, Alvaret Opal, named him after the word Eclipse.

Though Eclipses' parents were in slavery, Alvaret had made a deal with a Gallente whose life he had saved once. The Gallentean was to steal away with Eclipses in the dead of night, so that he would never know the hardships his parents faced daily.

Once of age to join the Republic Military, Eclipses immediately signed up, eager to help the Minmatar races rejoin as one and eager to see them united and free. He hopes against hope that he may one day rescue a batch of slaves and once again be reunited with his father and mother.
