Born into the Sarum family Vanessa was a pampered but not spoiled child. She entered the Pod Pilot Training program at the Age of 12 and survived the pit falls to become a Pod Pilot.

She graduauted from the Imperial Acadamy as top in her class on May 13th, Year: 109 (2008/06/13) and Immediately formed the 24th Imperial Reserves on May 16th, Year: 109 (2008/06/16). She then began to really follow in her grandmother's footsteps, quickly starting to rise in the ranks of the Commisioned Officers of the Imperial Crusade against the Minmatar and Gallente.
