A professor at the University of Clodovica at one time, Dr Urchin is currently on sabbatical. His students are profoundly grateful. He has written a number of books which are current on the required-reading-for-class bestseller list. Among his more famous titles can be found: "Veldspar and Scordite: a history of the most common rocks," "The laws and regulations concerning the shipment of foodstuffs between insystem environments," and that ever popular best seller "Modular techniques of probiotic lithotropic astrochemistry."

He is known to have a particular hatred of snakes, especially vipers and the Fer de Lance.
